Mrs. Pearson's 4th Graders Conclude Novel Unit with Group Castle Project

Student-Created Castles Now on Display in Library

by Wahoo Elementary 4th Grade Teacher Laurie Pearson

March 05, 2010

Mrs. Pearsonʼs reading group has just finished reading the novel Castle in the Attic by Elizabeth Winthrop.

It tells the tale of William, who receives a beautiful castle from his housekeeper. Even though William is sad sheʼs leaving, now the castle is his!

William canʼt wait to play with it, as heʼs sure thereʼs something magical about the castle. When he picks up the Silver Knight, it comes alive in his hand. Sir Simon tells William a mighty story of wild sorcery, wizards, and magic.

As a culminating activity, the students have created their own castles.
